The Mat-Su Borough has a new online portal covering many permitting, licensing, and self-reported tax options for residents and business owners.
Launched Tuesday, the site’s buttons to apply, search, and pay are all active. Borough IT Director Leah Jones says the new site offers a way for residents, business owners, and Borough staff to track status of applications and payments through the portal. She says the portal helps automatically calculate the totals for self-reported taxes, reducing the chance for errors. A searching and mapping function also helps track the physical location for permit applications and their status.
The Borough has been working on the new portal for more than a year. Jones says it’s meant to help bring the Borough into the 21st century. It also reduces the need for Borough residents and business owners to come in person to make payments or apply for permits and licenses.
The new portal is available now at matsugov.us/permitting.
