New principals for TC and TKA announced

The Mat Su Borough School District has officially released the names of the new principals for Talkeetna Elementary and Trapper Creek Elementary. Talkeetna’s principal will be Carol Wadman and Trapper Creek’s principal will be Mitzi Garrison.

Wadman has been in the Anchorage School District since 2007 and served as the principal for Fairview and Ptarmigan Elementary Schools.  Prior to that, she was principal in Deer Lodge, Montana.  She holds a Master of Elementary School Administration from Montana State and received the administrative certification from the University of Alaska. 

Mitzi Garrison is coming from Dillingham, where she served as principal of a high school alternative program which was created using the formula of Burchell High School in the Mat Su.  She has been principal of two K-12 schools in Alaska. She is a graduate of the University of Oregon, holds a master of arts in curriculum and educational leadership and has earned additional credits from U-A-A and Alaska Pacific.  She and her husband, Doug, have 3 grown children.
