Over the holiday weekend, Alaska State Troopers report arresting a North Pole woman in the Upper Valley on eight charges after she allegedly led them on a chase with two young children in the car.

On Friday afternoon, troopers received multiple calls reporting a vehicle swerving “all over the roadway” near mile 121 of the Parks Highway. Troopers found the vehicle near mile 107. They say the car failed to stop, continued swerving, and accelerated to over eighty miles-per-hour before eventually stopping four miles later. Troopers contacted the driver, 34-year old Eleanor Walker, who they say was driving under the influence of alcohol. She was charged with driving under the influence, driving recklessly, failing to stop, two counts of reckless endangerment, two counts of endangering a minor, and refusing to submit to a chemical test.

Troopers say a family member took custody of the children and retrieved Walker’s vehicle.
