Shawn Thelen is turning the log building on Second St. across from K2 Aviation into a bike shop. The building has sat unused for some time. Talkeetna has not had a bike shop that does rentals, repairs, and refurbishing vintage bikes under the same roof. By the end of May, North Shore Cyclery should be open for business.
Bike safety for kids and their parents is being celebrated at the Talkeetna Elementary School on Monday, May 14th, starting at 1:30 pm. There will be a bike skills course, a bike check station, bike wash, helmet give-away and helmet fitting for all of the students.
In the above audio the new bike shop owner, Shawn Thelen speaks about sharing his enthusiasm for biking with kids.
The Bike Safety Course will be held at Talkeetna Elementary School on May 14, 2018 at 1:30-3pm, ending with a bike parade. If you want to join the fun, all are welcome. The bike parade will be around 2:45 -3:00 pm.
