A few months ago, the Northern Susitna Institute announced they were working toward the goal of purchasing the Church on the Rock’s property at the edge of downtown Talkeetna and starting a Folk School. Negotiations have been underway and NSI was able to announce recently that they had indeed reached an agreement on the property. Sue Deyoe has the story on the first event at the former Talkeetna Christian Center….

Northern Susitna Institute is planning to have a grand opening on August 27th. Their Folk school idea is a work in progress and they plan on holding several classes in the shoulder season and in the winter. The folk school concept can be found at either John Campbell Folk School or North House Folk School.
