For years, John Allen was a fixture at Denali National Park. He was a bus driver in the Park, and part of his regular routine for seventeen years was keeping the park clean by picking up trash on his daily run. Eventually, Aramark, which runs the Park concessions, took notice, and has started holding an annual road cleanup day. John describes how the cleanup day works.
“It’s about a six mile road to road area, which runs from one side of the Park to the other, and the idea is you just jog along and pick up litter. We have a barbecue and fish fry. It’s kind of fun.”
The cleanup day has been an official event for the last fourteen years, and will be held again on Saturday, July 27th at Denali National Park.
