Pedersen found guilty on all charges

The trial of Siegfried Pedersen, of Caswell Lakes, concluded late last week in Palmer with a guilty verdict on all counts. Pederson was charged with 2 counts of firing a gun at a building; 2 counts of firing a gun by the highway, several counts of assault and criminal mischief.

Assistant DA Paul Roetman  says that two separate incidents from last year were combined into one trial proceeding.  The circumstances of both arrests led the court to combine the two cases.

An incident occurred last August when Troopers picked Pedersen up for a traffic violation and realized he had a warrant out for his arrest on harassment charges.

The next incident occurred in September when Troopers responded to a discharge of a weapon at a residence and a brief vehicle pursuit after the incident.  Pedersen was arrested on felony assault charges after he fired at a neighbor concerning a ‘children at play’ sign in the neighborhood.  After the confrontation, Pedersen returned to the neighbors’ home and fired at the house. A vehicle pursuit occurred through the Caswell area. According to trooper reports, the arrest involved the Alaska State Troopers, the Wasilla and Palmer Police Departments, the Anchorage Police Department, S-E-R-T, and Alaska State Troopers.

Sentencing is set for September 24^th in Palmer court.
