Road access is being restored to some 100 roads in the Borough that have been closed due to flooding and water damage. The Borough Emergency Services has said preliminary assessments show 823 homes in the Borough were damaged by flood waters, including 14 that were destroyed completely.  Director of Public Works Shaune O’Neileal says the first priority is to reopen access to homes before further repairs are pursued.

O’Neil added that the experiences during this event will be evaluated to see what mitigations can be made to improve conditions during the next high-water event. She says there were several areas after 2006 that could have seen a different response, and the State will be evaluating infrastructure that might mitigate future damage from similar flooding events.
