aired Tues a.m. Mount Redoubt is rumbling again.
The Alaska Volcano Observatory says a series of small earthquakes began Sunday afternoon near the summit and continued Monday. The alert status has been upgraded from green to yellow.
Scientists do not think an eruption is imminent, but are wondering about a collapse of the dome. A dome collapse would emit ash thousands of feet in the air, like an eruption.
The volcano has remained at the green, or non-eruptive state, since September 27th. Redoubt erupted in March, sending ash across the upper Susitna Valley, hitting the communities of Skwentna and Petersville the hardest and disrupting air travel in Anchorage and across the state.
Scientists continue to closely monitor Mount Redoubt’s activity.
