Throughout Wednesday night, unofficial results from the 2018 mid-term elections came in, and it appears to be a good day for Republicans in Juneau.
In the race for governor, Republican Mike Dunleavy led Democrat Mark Begich by over 22,000 votes late Tuesday night with eighty percent of precincts reporting.
Republican Representative Don Young also ended Tuesday with a significant advantage, leading independent challenger Alyse Galvin by nearly 20,000 votes.
Ballot Measure 1 was the most lopsided statewide race of the day, with “no” votes leading nearly two-to-one late on Tuesday.
In local legislature races, both incumbents appear to have been re-elected with all precincts counted.
In Senate District E, Republican Senator Mike Shower held a three-to-one lead over Democratic challenger Susan Kay.
In House District 10, Republican Representative David Eastman held a lead of 600 votes over each of his challengers, Democrat Patricia Faye-Brazel and Republican Doyle Holmes.
All results are currently unofficial, and some absentee votes remain to be counted. KTNA will continue to update as new numbers become available.
