Jessica Stevens was a Talkeetna resident who made a big impact on the community as a caregiver and friend to many. After her untimely death in a car accident, a Community Foundation was started in her name to continue supporting the efforts she believed in. As the mission for the Jessica Stevens Community Foundation states, it seeks to encourage compassionate health care, innovative education, active enjoyment of the natural environment, and community enrichment through the arts and cultural expression
As a way of remembering Jessica Stevens, friends and supporters of her vision will hand out yellow roses on Saturday at areas across the Northern Susitna valley.
KTNA’s Lorien Nettleton spoke with Sondra Porter and Shelis Jorgensen about their memories of Jessica’s work, and the vision that the Foundation carries forward in her name.
