Six injured in boating accident
A head-on collision of two boats in the Deshka River resulted in six injuries of varying degrees on Saturday.
A head-on collision of two boats in the Deshka River resulted in six injuries of varying degrees on Saturday.Troopers report that a 2000 Harborcraft driven by 54-year old Bobbie Houser of Chugiak and a 2009 Phantom Sport driven by 29-year old Joshua Lebhart of Wasilla collided. A two-year old child was ejected from the Phantom Sport, but could be quickly rescued out of the water. Joshua Lebhart, Stephanie Lebhart and the child were transported by Willow EMS to the hospital.
The driver of the Harborcraft was not injured, but 28-year old Bobbie Houser Jr. had to be medivaced by helicopter. The other two occupants, Cherryl Houser, age 55 and 14-year old Elizabeth Houser were transported to the hospital with the Willow EMS. Troopers say alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the collision, but the investigation is ongoing. Trooper spokesperson Megan Peters said the injuries were not life-threatening.
