The 2022 Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race may be nearly nine months away, but some local mushers have already signed up to participate.

Thus far, six veteran mushers from Willow and Talkeetna have signed up for next year’s race.  From Talkeetna, Anja Radano and five-time Idtiarod champion Dallas Seavey will be returning to the race.  From Willow, Lev Shvarts, Wade Marrs, Ramey Smyth, and Matthew Failor have signed up.

So far, fifty mushers have signed up for the 2022, already more than the entire field from this year. The list could change significantly before the race happens next March, as mushers have until the end of November to sign up.
