aired tues – Alaska State Troopers responded to an accident on December 18th at the corner of Main Street and the Talkeetna Spur Road in downtown Talkeetna.
A snowmachine ran into the driver’s side of a green Subaru driven by Amanda Randles of Talkeetna. However, the driver fled the scene before Troopers arrived. By Tuesday morning, December 22nd, Troopers had been advised that the someone had confessed to the accident.
Troopers were able to catch up to the driver of the snowmachine and post a report the day before Christmas.
Their investigation showed that 38 year old Joseph Watson Jr, of Talkeetna, had left a downtown bar and restaurant and headed down Main Street at a high rate of speed. He lost control and struck Randles’ Subaru. He was thrown from the snowmachine and sustained minor injuries. Troopers eventually were able to make contact with Watson. He was cited for having a snowmachine on the roadway. Alcohol was involved in the accident and additional criminal charges of leaving the scene of an injury accident and reckless driving have been forwarded to the DA’s office.
