State proposes adding state landmarks register

The state of Alaska is proposing some changes in the department of history and archeology which would add a Landmarks Register. The addition of the registry would allow Alaskan buildings with historic significance to be listed with the state without trying to qualify for the National Register of Historic Places. In turn, all buildings listed on the National Register would automatically be added to the State.
