Su Valley basketball teams move into semi-finals in Nenana

The Su Valley boys and girls basketball teams swept the Tok Wolverines in the opening rounds of the Nenana Invitational basketball tournament on Thursday morning.
Su Valley Junior-Senior High School athletic director Jimmy Sickler reports that the Su Valley Lady Rams were victorious over the Tok Lady Wolverines, winning the match 29 points to 22 points. Sierra Pederson led the scoring with 9 points and Jeannie Jurasek with 6 points. Leading rebounders were Katherine Wollett and Bailey Stevenson. Sierra Pederson had the most steals with 6 and Bailey Stevenson and Katherine Wollett had 4 steals apiece. Sierra Pederson had 6 assists to lead the team.
The Su Valley Boys took control of a close contest in the last couple minutes of the game against Tok, winning 53 to 43 points. Leading the Rams were Paxon Matthews with 15 points, Bill Kelly with 14 points and Mitchell Drover with 8 points. Skyler Hamler and Paxon Matthews led the team with seven rebounds each; Dylan Figley, Bill Kelly and Mitchell Drover with six each. Chris Bartel managed five steals and eight assists.
Su Valley moves to the semi-finals with the games to conclude on Saturday. On Friday the Ladies Rams play Huslia in the semi finals. The Su Valley boys take on Tri-Valley on Friday.
