Susitna Valley High School celebrated the graduating class of 2024 in the school auditorium, Wednesday night. About 20 graduates crossed the stage to receive diplomas. This was the first graduation with new principal Bryn Kirby.

KTUU meteorologist and reporter Robert Forgit offered the commencement speech.

Senior Class President and Salutatorian, Eric Cassidy spoke to the class, mentioning the difficulties of COVID-19 and how their class brought back the beloved “Mock Rock” tradition to Su Valley.  He thanked community member Karen Mannix for “putting up with their shenanigans” as a long-term substitute teacher and for her influence.

Class Valedictorian, Aiden Williams also spoke to the class, describing what she saw as a remarkable transformation of the class from a “bunch of rowdy sixth graders to poised adult-ish group of friends.”

Both Cassidy and Williams received numerous scholarships, including being named as University of Alaska Scholars, along with Heidi Bedingfield.
