Su Valley Sports Teams Excel at State Contests

The Susitna-Valley High School Co-Ed Soccer team took Fourth Place at the State Tournament held last weekend in Palmer. The Rams had been seeded Seventh going into the Tournament.
Su-Valley lost it’s first game to Birchwood Christian in a double overtime shootout contest. They clawed back to beat Nenana 4-0 and Twindly Bridge 2-0. The Rams then lost again to Birchwood, 2-1, in the battle for third place.
Senior, Wyatt Lewis, was named to the All-Tournament team for his outstanding defensive play.
Earl Davidson, was named the “Most Valuable Goalie” for the Region 2 Conference”. Lily Esmailka was awarded “Most Valuable” female player for the conference.
First year Su-Vally soccer coach, Joey McBrayer, was named the Region 2 “Coach of the Year”.
Also last weekend in Palmer, three local high school Cross Country runners competed in the 1/2A State Cross-Country Meet.
Su-Valley’s, Eli Redmond, finished 41st out of 87 runners in his race. For the women, Calla Fish came in at 18th place and Lillian Stewart finished 29th out of 73 runners.
