In this episode of Su Valley Voice host Trisha Costello hit the trail, both in long format and closer to home.
In the first half of the hour we chatted close to home with Brian Robison, our Borough Parks and Recreation person tasked with keeping our local parks and trails in good shape as well as with Ruth Wood and Corinne Marzullo representing a fairly new user group: M.U.T.T. Multi Users on Talkeetna Trails.
In the second part of the show we learned about the proposed Alaska Long Trail, 500 miles of new and existing pathways connecting Seward to Fairbanks and incorporating our own area trails within it’s plan. Zach Million, the Bureau of Land Management’s feasibility study leader on the project discussed the National Trails System Act and Sam Dinges, with Alaska Trails, gave us more detailed information on the Alaska Long Trail itself.
Hiking, biking, mushing, skiing, kick sledding and just plain getting on the trails to wander the woods and natural areas outside our back doors…. how we find trails, care for them and use them, these are the topics on this episode of Su Valley Voice.
