Su Valley won the Region 2 Track & Field Meet, held at Susitna-Valley High
School this past weekend. Both the men’s and the women’s teams each
narrowly beat Tri-Valley High School to bring home the first place trophies.
Sophomore, Austin Bernard, posted a personal best in the men’s high
jump, reaching a height of six feet and earning him the “Most Valuable Male
Field Athlete” of the meet. Junior, Jacob Shockey, won the 100m dash, the
long jump, and was a member of the winning 4 by 400 meter male relay
team. He walked away with the “Most Valuable Male Track Athlete” of the
meet.
Numerous Su-Valley competitors on both the men’s and women’s teams
qualified for the State Track and Field Tournament. The State meet will be
held next weekend at Diamond High School in Anchorage.
