Bachelors hammed it up for a rowdy crowd on Saturday night to rake in more than $100,000 to benefit local organizations. The Talkeetna Bachelor Society auctions men one night each year at the Bachelor Ball and tickets for the event often sell out in just minutes.
The Society will be distributing $120,000 to those organizations this year and the grant applications are already pouring in. Before 2021, a great year might bring in about $20,000. But last year the auction brought in $91,000.
The first auction was in 1981 at the Fairview Inn and it’s grown from there. Events became profitable in 1989 and the Society began donating to local non-profit organizations at that time. The Society has become one of the largest local grantors in the Upper Susitna Valley.
