Talkeetna broke a heat record again yesterday (wed). The recorded temperature at the Talkeetna airport was 81 degrees. That is just 2 degrees higher than the record 79 degrees set in 1992.
Talkeetna was one of the hottest places in the state. However, King Salmon also set a new high of 81 degrees yesterday. The old record was 71, set in 1956. Skwentna was just one degree shy of tying their record set in 1957.
Although Talkeetna has experienced above average temperatures every day this June, the remainder of the month might be hard to beat as far as record temperatures. Weather service records show that high temperatures of 91 degrees were set on June 14th and on the 26th in the past, with a number of days with record highs in the 80s.
