Next Tuesday, voters will head to their polling locations to cast ballots in the state and federal elections. In Talkeetna, they will also be voting for members of the community council’s board of directors.
The Talkeetna Community Council election is traditionally held at the Talkeetna Public Library, and this year is no exception. What is unusual is the fact that the current plan is to hold the council election outside.
Election plans shared with KTNA state that a table will be set up to one side of the library’s main entrance. Volunteers will staff the table, provide ballots, and disinfect between voters. In order to vote in the Talkeetna Community Council election, one must live within the council boundary. A map will be at the table, and voters must affirm that they live within the council area. Voters will be instructed to wear masks and socially distance while in line. They will be called up one at a time to cast their votes.
There are a total of five candidates running for the TCCI board of directors. Each has provided a brief biographical statement, which is available at the Talkeetna Community Council, Inc. website.
