The Talkeetna Historical Society board of directors has chosen a new manager. According to a statement by Board President Sharon Montanigno, Autumn Merritt has been hired to fill the position that was left vacant when former manager Sue Deyoe retired.
According to the statement, Merritt has a degree in history and previously worked at the Thomas Wolfe Memorial Museum in Asheville, North Carolina. She has lived in Talkeetna for several years, and was previously a board member for the Talkeetna Historical Society. She begins in her new position on June 19th.
Montanigno summed up the board’s feelings by saying, “We feel we are very fortunate to have found her and look forward to a successful future with her at the helm.”
