This Thursday, December 20th, the Talkeetna Hockey Association will be the first to skate on  the freshly formed ice of the recently completed  Talkeetna ice rink.
After the hockey practice, the rink will be open to the public for a free skate until 10 pm, which is when the lights turn off. The Talkeetna ice rink is now owned by the Mat Su School district and helmets are encouraged to be worn by all who are on the ice.

KTNA’s Katie Writer spoke with Jack MacDonald and Mike Moeglein as they assisted in the final touches of long time project.

On New Year’s Eve, there will be an open house at the rink that will coincide with the VFW firework display next door.

There will be some new rules this year, including that everyone on the ice should wear a helmet.
