Talkeetna Lakes Park may see addition of 90 acres
In Tuesday’s meeting, the Talkeetna Parks Advisory Committee passed a motion recommending that 90 acres of land recently transferred from the State of Alaska to the Mat-Su Borough be added
In Tuesday’s meeting, the Talkeetna Parks Advisory Committee passed a motion recommending that 90 acres of land recently transferred from the State of Alaska to the Mat-Su Borough be added to the borough’s Talkeetna Lakes Park.
The land is comprised of parcels at the south end of Christiansen Lake and a parcel bordering Y Lake. The lands were selected for public recreation potential and the borough had stated interest to add the 90 acres to the Talkeetna Lakes Park. The committee also recommended that existing multi-use trails on these parcels should continue to be open to different user groups including those on motorized vehicles, if the land is added to the park. Trails within the current park boundaries are for non-motorized use only.
In other business, the committee nominated candidates to fill two vacancies. To replace former members Jenni Burr and Pam Robinson, the committee nominated Dan Valentine and Howard Carbone.
The committee’s motions and nominations are forwarded to the Talkeetna Community Council for further discussion.
