The Talkeetna Sewer and Water Board met Wednesday, September 7th. The main topic on the agenda was reducing the indebtedness of the system in an effort to minimize the projected in sewer and water rates.
A motion was made and passed to explore grant possibilities at the borough and state levels.
The board is looking into the possibility of taxing all property owners in the system equally, since all properties in the area have added value due to the existence of the system.
Inquiry was made to Senator Huggins and Representative Newman about securing legislative funds. Their response was that funds are not available between sessions, and funding is never available to pay off loans. Money could be requested for equipment and studies.
The Board meets the first Wednesday of each month, and all interested people are invited to attend.
