Talkeetna Takes to the Trails to Support Healthy Kids

The annual Talkeetna Trail Race was held last weekend in Talkeetna. 190 participants lined up at the Talkeetna Alaskan Lodge and finished their journey at the Denali Arts Hangar. Three races of varying distances were held simultaneously.  

58 runners participated in the 25K race. Luke Steele placed 1st overall with a time of 2 hours and one second. B. Sullivan finished in 1st for the women and 3rd overall with a time of 2 hours and 9 seconds.

In the 10K race, Talkeetna’s own Josh Sandifer placed 1st out of 34 runners. Also from Talkeetna, Bailey Stratton placed 1st for the women and 2nd overall.

The 5K race had a whopping 98 finishers. Su-Valley High School’s Eli Redmond finished in first place. Also from Su-Valley, Lillian Stewart came in first for the women and 4th overall. 

The Talkeetna Trail Race is organized by the Talkeetna Elementary School PTA.  Proceeds support the PTA’s Healthy Lifestyles program. The program provides funds for athletics, healthy foods, art and other activities that the Mat-Su School system does not fully support.
