The water supply system in Talkeetna is down. Starting this morning, water pressure steadily declined to the point where homes and businesses are only getting a trickle of water from their faucets. The Mat-Su Borough’s Public Works operation and maintenance manager Chuck Braun said he received calls from eight Talkeetna residents and Main Street businesses alerting him that something is wrong with the water flow. Braun said the problem seems to be in the well house and an electrician is expected to arrive in Talkeetna around noon time. Braun said he doesn’t suspect a line break in the system.
Braun asks people to close their taps and not to flush toilets as they won’t fill up until the problem is fixed.
The public toilets at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar are closed.
Porta-potties for public use are located at the railroad depot at Village park, at D street and in the alley way north of Main Street.
