Talkeetna's water and sewer problems solved

The Talkeetna Water and Sewer system’s problems that temporarily shut down the water supply to residences and businesses on Friday and Saturday seem to be solved.

Mat-Su borough Public Works operation and maintenance director Chuck Braun sent a technician and an electrician from Wasilla to Talkeetna to fix the problem that appeared to be of electrical nature. On Saturday, the water pressure fell again but was remedied as borough public works contractors came up to Talkeetna once more to get the water running.

On Monday, problems with the sewer developed but were also resolved. A slug of grease had plugged the sewer line on VFW Way and once it was removed, the sewer line was clear and running again.

As of Tuesday, the borough’s technician has found that the Talkeetna water and sewer system is up and running again.

Borough officials were not available for a detailed report on Tuesday as borough director Chuck Braun is on leave and the second-in-command fell ill.

The Talkeetna Water and Sewer board is meeting for their scheduled monthly meeting on Wednesday at 3 p.m. at the Talkeetna Fire Hall.
