The race is on - can Talkeetna read 120,000 pages in one week?

With the Iditarod Sled Dog Race under way, the Talkeetna Library invites residents to step up to the Iditapage Challenge. The library has set a community-wide goal to read 330-thousand pages by the time the first Iditarod team arrives in Nome. To advance the library’s marker along the map of the Iditarod route, 15-thousand pages must be read for each race checkpoint. With almost 208-thousand pages read since January, the library’s marker has advanced as far as Kaltag, the 15^th checkpoint of the race. Readers in Talkeetna have a little over a week to cover the remaining 7 checkpoints by reading 122-thousand pages before the first teams reach Nome.

According to Mat-Su Borough Manager John Moosey’s February report, the Talkeetna library hosted 2,594 patrons in the month of January. They had 402 computer log-ins, and 175 wireless users, and the librarians fielded 165 reference questions during the month.
