The search for Melanie Gould continues today

The search for Talkeetna resident Melanie Gould continues today.

Yesterday, a crew of 20 searchers, two canine search teams as well as two fixed wing aircraft and one helicopter searched across the area near where Gould’s truck was found Saturday

Gould went missing on Tuesday.  She was last seen at the Tesoro station on the Parks Highway purchasing fuel.  She was supposed to be at work on Tuesday and didn’t show up to the Roadhouse or the Flying Squirrel for work Wednesday.  Both Troopers and friends checked her residence and found no sign of Gould.  All 12 of her dogs were still at the residence. Gould’s cellphone was in the house and the truck was gone.

On Friday, a helicopter tried to fly over the Denali Highway and search, but high winds hampered search efforts.

The trooper helicopter found Gould’s abandoned truck on Saturday.  Since that time, troopers have had a place to focus and have ramped up search efforts in the area 18 miles east of Cantwell.

Trooper spokesperson Megan Peters says that the same amount of resources are being used today that were used yesterday minus the trooper helicopter, which is unable to fly today.  The Civil Air Patrol is using two fixed wing aircraft, there are about 20 searchers on the ground and as far as Peters is aware, the two canine units are still involved in the search

There is still no clues as to Gould’s whereabouts.
