Trapper Creek man pleads guilty

George Blodgett of Trapper Creek plea-bargained to felony assault charges in Palmer Court last week.

Blodgett was arrested last December after a dispute with his domestic partner and a neighbor.

According to Troopers, Blodgett and his partner had an argument; she left to hitchhike to Anchorage and ended up at a neighbors house. Blodgett followed and fired shots at his neighbor’s house when he discovered his partner was inside the house. The neighbor returned shots with a rifle and hit Blodgett in the leg. Blodgett left the scene and Troopers contacted him by phone to meet them at the Trapper Creek Post Office. Instead, Blodgett went to Mat Su Regional to obtain medical care for his leg wound and was arrested soon after.

Blodgett was initially charged with attempted murder. He pled guilty on Thursday to assault in the third degree and misconduct involving a weapon. The charges carry a four to seven year prison term. Blodgett is currently due to be sentenced in March.
