Residents in Trapper Creek want slower traffic on the Parks Highway through the community. Especially at the main intersection with Petersville and Susitna River Roads. 

There is a blinking light at the main intersection. Residents say the light does little to protect turning vehicles from speeding traffic. At this month’s Council meeting members discussed options for making a formal request. 

Council members discussed engaging all residents with a petition. In addition, the Council will draft a letter to the Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities, or D-O-T, requesting the lower speed limits. 

State Representative Kevin McCabe who attended the meeting says the project would likely need to go through the Federal Highway Administration for funding. And he says it takes about two years for a project to move forward.
