The Alaska Bureau of Investigation is investigating the death of a six-year old child after emergency services were called out on Friday to a home off Willow-Fishhook Road. Troopers say that they received a report of a child not breathing on Friday at 8:21 a.m. Troopers say that the child, Leaa Petros, was pronounced dead on scene. Willow emergency services as well as a paramedic from Meadow Lakes responded. A fire engine was requested to the home to clear a landing zone for a “Guardian” helicopter. The child’s body was taken to the State Medical Examiner in Anchorage for an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death. Spokesman for the Department of Health and Social Services Greg Wilkinson confirmed that the autopsy has been completed and that an initial report regarding the cause and manner of the girl’s death has been submitted to the Alaska Bureau of Investigation, ABI for short.
ABI is part of the Alaska State Troopers. Trooper spokeswoman Megan Peters declined to comment on the cause of the child’s death.
The ABI is responsible for conducting major criminal investigations within State Trooper jurisdiction. The investigation continues.
