Alaska State Troopers are looking for an unidentified man who they say fired multiple shots from a vehicle along the Parks Highway.
Troopers initially responded to the report of someone shooting from a vehicle around 4:30 p.m. on Sunday near Palmer-Fishhook Road, where shell casings for a 9 millimeter were found. Reports continued to come in for the next half-hour, stating that the driver turned onto Pittman Road, then northbound on the Parks Highway.
Troopers looked for the vehicle, a 2012 silver Ford Focus, along the Parks, and a witness reported seeing the car leave the highway near the Kashwitna River. Troopers searched the area for about an hour, and used a drone to search nearby roads, but did not locate the vehicle.
Witnesses describe the driver as a man with long hair and a scruffy beard and say he may be an Alaska Native.
Alaska State Troopers say a witness did provide a license plate number, and the investigation is ongoing. They ask anyone with information to call 745-2131 or CrimeStoppers at 745-3333.
