Troopers seeking witnesses to fatal Parks Highway crash

The Alaska State Troopers want to speak to witnesses of Monday’s fatal crash on the Parks Highway, including the driver of a commercial truck.

The crash occurred around 3:00 pm near Mile 185. Troopers say a van was passing a commercial vehicle in a no passing zone when it collided with a pickup truck in the oncoming lane. Two men in the van died at the scene, and two more died while being transported to the hospital. One passenger in the van suffered critical injuries. None of the van’s occupants have been identified as of Tuesday afternoon.

All three occupants of the pickup were injured, including driver Collin Koskey, passenger Felicia Koskey, and an unidentified two-year-old passenger.

Troopers are also extending thanks to the multiple agencies and good Samaritans who stopped to help. Emergency responders came from as far south as Willow and as far north as Healy. Emergency medical services and law enforcement personnel from Denali National Park and Preserve also responded to the scene. Additionally, two ER nurses on vacation from Texas stopped and rendered aid for about forty minutes. They were the only medical staff on scene until emergency responders arrived.
