Troopers turn up the heat on sporting and recreation infractions

The Alaska State Troopers and Alaska Wildlife Troopers this week have continued to send a strong message about enforcing wildlife regulations, and sportsmen and guides have felt the heat this week.

Each day the Trooper Dispatches have numerous accounts of sporting infractions, from boating without the required safety gear like life vests for each passenger or failure to carry audible distress signals. There have also been a number of citations issued for fishermen casting hooks without licenses, or fishing for kings without the required king stamp.

The Wildlife Troopers continue to scrutinize all aspects of summer pass-times and subsistence activities. The citations range between 60 dollars for not having boating registration decals properly displayed, to $210-dollars for possessing fish without a license.
