On Wednesday night, Alaska State Troopers responded to a vehicle crash near mile 87 of the Parks Highway.  According to Troopers, Sharon Wiertsema of Willow was using her Chevy pickup to push a disabled vehicle steered by Harlan Wiertsema.  The vehicles were not connected, and the disabled vehicle was being pushed bumper-to-bumper.

Troopers say that Patrick Crandall of Wasilla was driving a big rig with two flatbed trailers behind the Wiertsemas for several miles, then he attempted to pass them in a passing zone.  The pickup and unidentified disabled vehicle then allegedly turned left without warning.  The eighteen-wheeler sideswiped Sharon Wiertsema’s pickup, damaging both vehicles.  Troopers say none of the drivers were injured.

Sharon Wiertsema was cited for Failure to Exercise Due Care and Improper Towing Equipment.  Harlan Wiertsema was ticketed for driving without a valid license.
