The owner, and representatives, of a new restaurant and brewery in downtown Talkeetna spoke to the Talkeetna Community Council Monday night.
The 3 partners, Sassan Mossanen, Mike Lindgren and Boe Barnett, gave an update on the progress of the business and asked the council for a letter of support to be written to the Mat Su Borough. The purpose of the letter, they said, would be to speed the progress of their various licenses so they can be open for business by this summer. They have applied for a beer and wine license as well as a restaurant license.
The business, which includes a Laundromat, propane sales, a small brewery operation and a full service restaurant, will be located in the building that used to be Tanners Trading Post and Coffee Cabin. The restaurant will be called Twister Creek and the brewing operation’s name is Denali Brewing.
Mossanen spoke to the question of current lack of propane for sale. He said he is walking thru the steps to be qualified to pump propane. The propane tank outside of the old Tanners is completely empty at this time, he said. He assured the council that as soon as the company gets on its feet, the business plan, as they presented to the council last month, will become operational. That would mean both propane and laundry will be available.
He said he hopes the sale of propane will be available by the end of February.
