Denali Education Center hosts local author, Christine Byl, for reading and conversation on Thursday, November 20th beginning at 7:30pm at Denali Education Center's Talkeetna Campus. She will be presenting two of her books: Lookout - her first novel, and Dirt Work: An Education in the Woods - a finalist for a Willa Award in nonfiction. Books will be available for purchase, and a portion of sales will go to disaster relief in Western Alaska.

Denali Education Center host Talkeetna Brewfest on Saturday, September 20th from 2 until 6pm. There will be breweries from across the state with an array of tasting opportunities, a large charcuterie table, and live music by Ukulele Russ. More information and tickets are available at denali.org.

Denali Education Center hosts Erica Watson, a Denali-based writer, with her presentation; Only a Visitor: Tourism and Home from Svalbard and Denali. Erica will share writing and reflections on tourism, sustainability, and belonging—drawing from twenty years of living at Denali National Park and an artist residency sailing in the High Arctic. This presentation is on Thursday, September 18th at the Susitna Hall in Talkeetna, beginning at 7pm.

Denali Education Center hosts Mushrooms of Alaska, a talk and foray presented by Kate Mohatt and Noah Siegel exploring the wide variety of mushrooms native to the region. All are welcome to attend the lecture at the Susitna Hall in Talkeetna at 11am, followed by a mushroom foray at 1pm on Saturday, August 30th. Denali Education Center hosts fiddling poet, Ken Waldman on Tuesday, August 26th at 7pm, at the Susitna Hall in Talkeetna. Ken is discussing his new book titled Now Entering Alaska Time. All are welcome.

The Talkeetna Skatepark Committee is meeting on July 2nd at 7pm at Denali Education Center. This will be a working meeting to reach out to sponsors, create a fundraising thermometer to display the progress at the park, and brainstorm ways to raise funds for the skatepark. Anyone who wants to participate is welcome.

Denali Education Centers hosts a Family Science Night at Susitna Hall in Talkeetna. There will be fun science experiments, games, and food Tuesday, June 24, from 5-7pm.

Mat-Su Borough Mayor DeVries will be at Denali Education Center today from 2 to 3:30 pm for a Meet-n-Greet. All are welcome.

Denali Education Center hosts their annual Earth Day Celebration with a non-profit and civic engagement fair on April 19th from 11am until 3pm. This event includes kids activities, a PTA Bake Sale, food, and more. Learn more on their Facebook Event Page.

Also at Earth Day there will be Electronic Waste Collection. Computers, phones, TVs and similar will be accepted as well as small appliances, cords and cables, fluorescent bulbs, and standard household alkaline batteries. Please do NOT bring lithium, nickel, rechargeable, or lead acid batteries, ballasts, large appliances, or anything with liquid in it.

Talkeetna Craft Night takes place at Denali Education Center on the third Thursday of each month through the winter. The next one is on Thursday, March 20th from 5 to 8pm.
