    Denali Arts Council’s annual Talkeetna Art Festival is this Saturday & Sunday, May 23rd and 24th at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar. Each day starting at noon there will be live music on two stages, aerial performances, and art vendors with demos and workshops. This is an indoor/outdoor family friendly event.     Denali Arts Council presents a showcase of the after-school program, Su Valley Band Lab, at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar on Friday, May 15th . Blackwater Railroad Company hosted this year's Band Lab. The community is invited to enjoy the presentation of the student's newly acquired skills and stay after for a Blackwater Railroad Concert.   • Mother’s Day Concert – Denali Arts Council

    The Denali Arts Council's Music Academy presents a Mother's Day Concert on Sunday, May 10th at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar. The program features the Rhythm and Red Shoes Ensemble, Desperate Measures and the Community Choir, performing a mix of classical and pop pieces. Doors open at 3:30pm and the concert starts at 4pm. Applicants must have strong organizational, office, and Excel skills, enjoy teamwork and event coordination, and have a love for the arts.     We’re taking a trip down memory lane! KTNA is hosting a casual community gathering featuring a screening of the KTNA Millennium Concert from April 22, 2000. This footage was recently digitized, and we are excited to bring it back to the community 26 years after the original performance. We’ll be celebrating with a potluck, you are welcome to bring something to share… or just bring yourself! That’s from 7 to 9pm on Saturday, April 25th at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar. We look forward to sharing this blast from the past with you all!

  • Singing Zoologist Performance – Denali Arts Council

    Denali Arts Council hosts The Singing Zoologist at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar on Thursday, April 16th. The Singing Zoologist, Lucas Miller, blends music, puppets and projected videos to keep audiences laughing, moving, singing and learning. This show family-friendly show is suitable for all ages. There will be pizza available, by the slice until it runs out, to make this a dinner-and-a-show type of event.     Denali Arts Council hosts the Soggy Sneaker 5K Run as part of the Banff Film Festival festivities on Saturday, April 11th. The run starts at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar at 12pm, winding through some soggy spring snow along the Chase Trail, and finishing at the Talkeetna Alaskan Lodge.     Denali Arts Council hosts the Alaska B4uDie Comedy Festival on Thursday and Friday, April 2nd and 3rd at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar. Thursday's show is an array of national comedians spanning the country, and the B4uDie Fest Alumni, Hayden Kristal. Friday will showcase a mix of national comedians, and some talented Alaskan comedians. Doors for both nights open at 6:30pm and the jokes start at 7pm.   • Made for the Stage – Dead Inside Performance – Denali Arts Council

    Denali Arts Council's after school theater program, Made for the Stage, presents Dead Inside: A Zombie Guide to Using Your Brains, featuring three original plays – Your Own Drum, Not That Kind Of Scared, and Zombie/Normie. Performances are at 7pm on Friday and Saturday, March 27th and 28th and at 2pm on Sunday, March 29th at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar.     The final performance for the Denali Arts Council's Performing Arts Season is the a cappella group Ball in the House on Wednesday, March 25th. Ball in the House is an R&B/Soul/Pop vocal band ​based out of Boston, whose high energy shows have audiences ​singing, dancing, even beatboxing along. Doors open at 6:30pm, music starts at 7pm.   • Storytellers needed for Arctic Entries

    Denali Arts Council is seeking storytellers for the upcoming Arctic Entries on Saturday, April 4th. The theme is Potholes and Promises, Stories of bumps in the road, where they lead and how you kept going. The stories need to be true, written in the first person and seven minutes long.   • The Last King, a film – Denali Arts Council

    The Denali Arts Council is showing the film The Last King at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar on Friday, March 13th.  This R-rated movie takes place in 1204 in Norway, where a couple of ski champions try to protect a royal baby. Costumes are encouraged. Doors at 7:30, Film starts at 8pm.

  • Krew Fewd 2 – Live Game Show Fundraiser & Art Auction – Talkeenta Skatepark Committee

    The Talkeenta Skatepark Committee presents Krew Fewd 2 a Live Game Show Fundraiser and Art Auction on Thursday, March 12th at the Sheldon Arts Hangar. Attendees are able to bid on skateboards designed by local artists beginning at 6pm and then watch the Family-Feud style game show play out live at 7pm. Donations are appreciated, all proceeds will go towards building the Talkeetna Skatepark.
