Denali Arts Council is hosting another round of B Movie Bingo, replete with prizes on Tuesday, December 16th. The doors open at 7:30pm and movie and bingo start at 8.

The nonprofit organization SalmonState is hosting a screening of the film Ocean with David Attenborough on Monday, December 15th at 6:30pm at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar. The film dives into the beauty of our ocean ecosystems and the dangers of bottom trawling. There will be a short program, followed by a film screening, a Q&A session, and door prizes. Denali Arts Council hosts a Matinee of the performance, Laughing All the Way to the Brink, at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar on Sunday, December 14th. This theatrical event is part of the Climate Theater Festival and will feature seven short plays by playwrights from around the world. While climate change is very serious, most of these plays are very not. Doors open at 2:30, and the performance is at 3pm. Denali Arts Council hosts Parlor in the Round, a songwriter gameshow with a twist, featuring Talkeetna's own Steve Durr, as well as internationally acclaimed musicians. Denali Arts Council presents John Roberts y Pan Blanco at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar on Saturday, November 15th. With vocals in Spanish, English and Portuguese, this family friendly group is melding high-energy funk, African and Latin grooves with instrumental solos, aimed at sharing musical and cultural diversity with the audience. The Talkeetna Ice Festival Committee is meeting at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar Friday, November 7th, at 4pm. Community members interested in participating in the Festival are welcome to come.

The Denali Nordic Ski Club is holding its annual membership and election meeting on Thursday, November 6th from 5 to 7:30 pm at the Sheldon Community Arts Hanger. They are kicking off the ski season with food, drinks, and updates on what's ahead this year. There will be a board member election, membership renewal and information on upcoming volunteer opportunities. All are welcome.  Attendees can bring gear for an opportunity to buy/sell/swap ski gear. Saturday, October 11th is Denali Arts Council’s Take Back the Town party and annual meeting. This year's event is an autumn themed masquerade ball. The membership meeting, dinner, and elections start at 5:30pm. Attendees can vote on board members and renew their memberships. Following the meeting, the doors open to the public for the Denali Cooks and Friends at 7pm.

Denali Arts Council hosts Suraj Holzwarth, presenting her new book, Heart Like a Mountain on Friday, October 10th at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar, from 7 to 8pm. In 1979 at the age of 19, Suraj became the youngest woman to summit Denali. In her memoir, she shares a spirited account of the 30-day expedition which began in the Peters Hills, leading through some of Alaska's most remote wilderness before reaching Denali's Base Camp. Saraj will read from her book, present a slide show and will be available for book signings.
