Summer Reading Program – Talkeetna Public Library
Talkeetna Public Library TalkeetnaThe Talkeetna Public Library's Summer Reading Program begins at 1pm today (Thursday). This week, Geologist Greg will be showing his new rock polisher and also talking about volcanoes. All are welcome to come and blow up a small volcano. The final day of the program is next week on August 7th. Reading logs are due by noon that day for participants to be eligible for the prize drawings, you can also call in your totals. Summer Reading Program – Talkeetna Public Library
Talkeetna Public Library TalkeetnaThe Talkeetna Public Library's Summer Reading Program is on Thursdays
- Today the Summer Reading Program begins at 1pm. This week’s theme is Fairy Houses and Woodland Dwellings. Also, the library is creating a rock snake named William Snakespeare. Supplies for rock painting are available to use in the building or to borrow to make a snake segment at home. Bring your segments in to get varnished and added to the sculpture.
- Weekly meal backpacks, provided by Upper Susitna Food Pantry, are available at the front desk on Thursday afternoons until Saturday, or when supplies run out. These backpacks are available for children under 18 years of age to take home.
There are 2 more weeks of activities and reading incentives, all ages are welcome to attend. All reading logs must be turned in by Noon on Thursday, August 7th. For more information, you may call the library at 907-861-7645 and visit their Facebook Page.

Talkeetna Public Library TalkeetnaThe Talkeetna Public Library is closed for staff training on Wednesday, July 23rd. They are normally open Monday through Saturday from 11am until 6pm. Talkeetna Library's Wi-Fi is always on and available to use.

- Storytime for ages 0-7 begins 11am with a snack, stories, and a craft. The theme this week is Rock Painting and the kids will begin to make a William Snakespeare rock sculpture.
- Lunch on the Lawn for all ages up to 18 is at 12pm.
- The Summer Reading Program for all ages begins at 1pm. Elaborate rock painting is the activity, and the kids will have a chance to add to the rock-snake sculpture.
- Reading logs may be turned in at the front desk on Thursdays.
