Voters to decide school bond issue

The Mat Su Borough Assembly has approved a school bond issue to be put in front of voters on October 6th.

The Mat Su Borough Assembly has approved a school bond issue to be put in front of voters on October 6th.

According to the school district, a number of school roofs in the district need repair and there are a few other major projects requiring a large amount of funding. The school bonds equal about $33 million .

Roof replacements and repairs have been requested at Houston Middle School, Finger Lake, Trapper Creek, Butte, Snowshoe, Wasilla and Palmer Middle Schools. Several schools are in need of ADA compliant parking and access improvements. The bonds would also pay for Colony High and Wasilla High running tracks as well as a track refurbishment at Palmer High. A re-roofing of the District Administration building is also covered under the bond issue to the tune of $1.2 million.
