A significant portion of the Upper Valley was without internet service for approximately twenty-four hours. According to a statement by Matanuska Telephone Association, a power outage and fire caused the outage. MTA says that part of the sheath for a fiber optic cable was burned. A crew responded Saturday evening and dug up the cable. The crew worked overnight to splice a new section of cable, and internet service was restored by early Sunday afternoon.
