The Talkeetna Community Council is still looking for information regarding the willows and alders that have been cut down at Riverfront Park at the end of Main Street. At the November Community Council meeting, the council was notified that someone has been trimming back an estimated 100 square feet of vegetation. The council is concerned that clearing the brush would remove the natural barrier that separates the scenic panorama of rivers and mountains from the bustle of downtown, thereby changing the character of the park. The council is still trying to determine the ownership of that property, which at one point was a township lot, but due to erosion might no longer be privately held.
