About 25 youth, ages 14 to 19, have been slowing traffic on the Talkeetna Spur Road the past 2 days. The sight of 2 dozen roller skiers traveling on the bike and pedestrian path is a bit out of the ordinary.
The youth are participating in Alaska Pacific University’s summer ski camp.
The APU Junior Team is a development program for cross country racing for youth, ages 14 to 20. Other camps besides Talkeetna, are the Girdwood camp, a summer ski camp in June, a Hatcher Pass ski camp in late fall and another potential one in early winter.
