Ashfall advisory cancelled

by Sue Deyoe ~ March 23rd, 2009

7:30 p.m.  The ashfall advisory for the Susitna Valley has been cancelled.  DEC’s air advisory is in effect until Tues. 10:00 AM.  Talkeetna has no ashfall, but Trapper Creek’s minimal ash might create breathing problems for those sensitive to air quality issues.  Residents, especially those on Petersville Road and in Skwentna that reported the most ashfall in the last 12 hours, should take the air quality advisory seriously.  Any one with asthma or breathing difficulty, young children and elderly, might have more difficulty in the outdoor environment.

Currently Redoubt has calmed down, but more activity should be expected.  The Alaska Volcano Observatory reminds people that the last time Redoubt erupted there was activity off and on for 4 months.

Currently winds are pushing any ashfall south and east.
