Local Talkeetna resident and reporter Diana Haecker received an Alaska Press Club award Saturday night for her report on the 2008 Iditarod.
Her article appeared in the Nome Nugget and was an in depth look at how Lance Mackey won last year’s Iditarod. She won best sports news reporting in the small newspaper category. The assistant managing sports editor of the Minneapolis Star Tribune called her work “a nicely crafted tale that was a fun read”.
The Alaska Press Club awards reporters and news sources with awards each March for the previous year’s reporting.
